Softball Game Preview: Hardin-Jefferson Hawks vs. Shepherd Pirates

The Hardin-Jefferson Hawks will face off against the Shepherd Pirates at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hardin-Jefferson has given up an average of 7.6 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Hardin-Jefferson is headed into Friday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game on Friday. They came up short against Livingston, falling 15-5.

Kaylee Jund was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-2. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in RBI (three). Another player making a difference was Nora Mcintosh, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Shepherd's hitters rose to the challenge against a Lions pitching crew that boasted an average of only 3.2 runs allowed on Tuesday. Shepherd blew past Livingston 13-4. The Pirates might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine contests by six runs or more this season.

Shepherd got a massive performance out of Neveah Murphey, who went 2-for-5 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Maci Wilson, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

The victory made it two in a row for Shepherd and bumps their season record up to 20-6. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games. As for Hardin-Jefferson, their loss dropped their record down to 7-15.
