Volleyball Recap: Marysville Comes Up Short

If Marysville was riding high fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Jonathan Alder on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Monarchs fell just short of the Worthington Kilbourne Wolves by a score of 2-1 on Saturday. The Monarchs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Wolves apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in August of 2024.

The 2-1 score doesn't really reflect how close the match was: every set was decided by three points or less. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-22, 23-25, 26-24.

When it comes to explaining why Marysville lost, don't look at Morgan Wilder. Despite the final result, she had 18 digs and two assists.

Among those leading the charge was Nora Cheslik, who had 13 digs. Those 13 digs gave her a new career-high.

Marysville's defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Worthington Kilbourne, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Coincidentally, Marysville and Worthington Kilbourne will both be playing Dublin Coffman the next time they take the court. The Monarchs will host the Shamrocks at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, while the Wolves will play them later in the day, at 11:15 a.m.
