Softball Recap: Griffith Institute's Undefeated Season over After Three Games

Griffith Institute lost against Depew back in April of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Griffins took a 7-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Wildcats. The loss put an end to the Griffins' undefeated start to the season.

Olivia Mesch spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and four unearned) runs on nine hits.

On the hitting side, Erin Baker was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one double.

Having lost for the first time this season, Griffith Institute fell to 2-1. As for Depew, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Griffith Institute will head out to take on Kennedy at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Depew, they will face off against Cheektowaga at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
