Softball Recap: Carroll Finds Playoff Glory Versus Clinton Central

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Carroll had no problem doing just that on Thursday. They never let the Clinton Central Bulldogs get on the board and left with a 5-0 win. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 11-1 on May 14th.

Not much got past Emily Justice, who gave up just seven hits and racked up ten Ks to keep Clinton Central off the board. Justice has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Madi Isley and Bree Hoke did most of the damage at the plate: Isley went 1-for-4 with one home run, while Hoke went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI. That home run was Isley's first of the season. Olivia Schroder was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one RBI.

Carroll was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .405. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Clinton Central only posted a batting average of .259.

Carroll is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Clinton Central, they moved to 11-14 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

As of now, neither Carroll nor the Bulldogs have any future games scheduled.
