Football Recap: Oak Harbor Wildcats vs. Mount Vernon Bulldogs

After flying high against Marysville Getchell last Friday, Oak Harbor came back down to earth. The Wildcats fell 29-22 to the Mount Vernon Bulldogs on Thursday. Despite 136 more yards than the Bulldogs, the Wildcats couldn't convert that extra yardage to scores.

When it comes to explaining why Oak Harbor lost, don't look at Jacob Espinoza. Despite the final result, he rushed for 193 yards and three scores.

Mount Vernon's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kaiden Anderson led the charge by throwing for 119 yards and a pair of touchdowns, while also punching in one TD on the ground. That rushing touchdown marked the first that Anderson has punched in this season. Diego Salaz handled things on the ground, rushing for 84 yards.

Oak Harbor's defeat dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Mount Vernon, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 5-1.
