Preview: Minatare vs. Walthill

The regular season was a success, but the real challenge begins now, in the postseason. Minatare will be playing at home against Walthill at on Friday. Since neither squad is a stranger to landslide victories this season, you'd better bet it will be hard-fought showdown.

Minatare brought a two-game winning streak into their matchup against Creek Valley last Friday; they left with a three-game streak. Everything came up roses for Minatare against Creek Valley as the team secured a 74-34 victory. Senior Ephroen Lovato and junior Kaleb Gonzales were among the main playmakers for Minatare as the former rushed for 166 yards and 4 touchdowns and the latter rushed for 136 yards and 3 touchdowns. Lovato has been a consistent playmaker for Minatare as this was the 8th good game in a row from him.

Meanwhile, Walthill put the finishing touches on their 5th blowout victory of the season. They put a hurting on St. Edward to the tune of 66-13. The rankings were on Walthill's side, but they didn't forecast quite such a lopsided result.

Their wins bumped Walthill to 5-3 and Minatare to 7-1. Given their high-scoring efforts against their previous opponents, it will be interesting to see how far up these teams can run up the score.
