Softball Game Preview: Palatine Pirates vs. Fremd Vikings

Palatine hasn't had much luck against Fremd recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Pirates are taking a road trip to take on the Vikings at 4:45 p.m. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a three-game winning streak alive.

Palatine's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 15-0 margin over Hoffman Estates.

Conant typically has all the answers at home, but on Friday Fremd proved too difficult a challenge. They put the hurt on the Cougars with a sharp 10-3 win. The result was nothing new for the Vikings, who have now won 12 games by six runs or more so far this season.

Fremd's victory was their eighth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 21-3. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.8 runs over those games. As for Palatine, their victory bumped their record up to 13-11-1.

Palatine suffered a grim 7-0 defeat to Fremd in their previous meeting back in April. Can the Pirates avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
