Softball Preview: Anacoco Indians vs. Many Tigers

Anacoco is 1-9 against Many since March of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The Indians will face off against the Tigers at 2:00 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Anacoco can't be too worried about heading out to take on Many: they just beat Pine Prairie at home, who had been dominant on their own field up to that point. The Indians' pitchers stepped up to hand the Panthers a 1-0 shutout on Thursday.

Many never got on the board in their matchup on Tuesday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Elizabeth on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 22-4 margin over the Bulldogs. The Tigers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine games by seven runs or more this season.

Rylee Gunter made a splash no matter where she played. She pitched three innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in strikeouts (five). She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 1-for-2.

In other batting news, Leah Bourque was incredible, going 2-for-3 with four runs, two stolen bases, and four RBI. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Caylee Downs, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run.

Many always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .710. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Elizabeth only posted an OBP of .357.

The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games. As for Anacoco, their record now sits at 22-4.
