Baseball Game Preview: Hayfield Vikings vs. Randolph Rockets

Hayfield and Randolph are an even 3-3 against one another since June of 2017, but likely not for long. The Vikings will be playing at home against the Rockets at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Randolph took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Hayfield, who comes in off a win.

Hayfield will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up two runs on Monday, then bounced right back against Waterville-Elysian-Morristown on Tuesday. The Vikings put the hurt on the Buccaneers with a sharp 10-4 victory. The Vikings haven't had any issues with the Buccaneers recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.

Meanwhile, Randolph has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging 3.56 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Friday. They lost 14-4 to Pine Island. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Rockets have suffered since May 25, 2024.

Hayfield's victory bumped their record up to 6-3. As for Randolph, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 6-3.

Hayfield beat Randolph 4-1 when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Will the Vikings repeat their success, or do the Rockets have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
