Ardrey Kell falls despite strong effort from Delani Hammonds

Recap: Ardrey Kell Knights vs. South Mecklenburg Sabres

The Ardrey Kell Knights suffered their closest loss yet this season on Wednesday. They fell just short of South Mecklenburg by a score of 63-61. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.

Despite the loss, Ardrey Kell still got an impressive performance from Delani Hammonds, who scored 23 points along with seven assists and six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Caden Caskey, who scored 11 points.

South Mecklenburg's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Peter Moye, who scored 22 points along with five rebounds. Moye has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last seven times he's played. Myles Howard was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with five rebounds and three steals.

Ardrey Kell's loss ended a seven-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-5. As for South Mecklenburg, their win bumped their record up to 15-2.

Ardrey Kell will look to defend their home court on Friday against Cuthbertson at 7:30 p.m. Cuthbertson has now lost 11 straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 4. As for South Mecklenburg, they will head out on the road to take on Olympic at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Olympic focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 last Friday.
