Baseball Recap: Thursday's Defeat Ends Rocklin's Winning Streak

Rocklin dropped their record down to 17-4 on Thursday, which also ended the team's nine-game streak of wins. They took a 6-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the St. Mary's Rams. If the Thunder were looking for revenge after losing 6-1 to the Rams when the teams met back in May of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Jeremiah Barrett was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out six batters over 4.2 innings while giving up three earned runs off only one hit. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two hits any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Rocklin saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Dylan Nusz, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one RBI.

As for St. Mary's, the win (which was their 15th in a row) raised their record to 17-4. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games.

On St. Mary's side, Jeremy Krause tossed a big game, pitching 5.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits.

On the hitting side, Alex Escalante was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March.

Rocklin didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 5-1 win against Folsom on the 22nd. As for St. Mary's, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 6-0 victory against Lodi on the 21st.
