Basketball Recap: Coronado Leopards vs. Santa Fe Prep Blue Griffins
The Coronado Leopards's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their sixth straight defeat. They took a 42-35 hit to the loss column at the hands of Santa Fe Prep. The game was a 16-16 toss-up at halftime, but Coronado couldn't quite close it out.
When it comes to explaining why Coronado lost, one person who can't be blamed is Ashlynn Jaramillo. Despite the final result, she scored 20 points.
Coronado dropped their record down to 3-11 with that loss, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 25.5 points per game. As for Santa Fe Prep, their victory bumped their record up to 3-4.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Coronado will take on the Eagle at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in New Mexico (Evangel Christian Academy/Oak Grove Classical Academy is ranked 131st, while the Leopards are ranked 133rd). As for Santa Fe Prep, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on the Red Devils at 5:00 p.m. on February 6th.
