Basketball Recap: DSST: College View Comes Up Short on the Road Against Aurora West College Prep Academy

DSST: College View had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They came up short against the Aurora West College Prep Academy Spartans on Monday, falling 45-20. The Wolves were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Spartans apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2024.

Despite the loss, DSST: College View saw an underclassman step up: freshman Natalia Sandoval posted 11 points and seven steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Jedanie Reed, who had no points and 15 boards.

Aurora West College Prep Academy found their leader in freshman Destiny Martinez, who dropped a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds. Maria Gutierrez was another key player, almost dropping a double-double with 11 points and nine steals.

Looking ahead, DSST: College View will square off against The Pinnacle at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Aurora West College Prep Academy, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 29-16 defeat against Lincoln on the 3rd.
