Football Recap: Oblong Panthers vs. Metro-East Lutheran Knights
Oblong faced Metro-East Lutheran in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Panthers took a blow against the Knights, falling 44-14. The Panthers lost against the Knights in their previous head to head back in September of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 42-40 score last time.

Oblong lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Lucas Blessing, who rushed for 110 yards and a pair of TDs. His rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his fourth straight game with at least 110 rushing yards. Oblong also got help from Travin Hill, who showed off his sure hands for 115 receiving yards.
Abe Oberhauser produced another solid effort rushing for 121 yards and two scores on only 11 carries, while also throwing for 173 yards and three touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes for Metro-East Lutheran. That's the most passing yards Oberhauser has posted since back in November of 2024. Lee Watson was another key player, rushing for 103 yards and one TD.
Oblong now has a losing record of 4-5. As for Metro-East Lutheran, they pushed their record up to 7-2 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road.
