Baseball Recap: Marsing Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Marsing, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Monday. They put the hurt on the New Plymouth Pilgrims with a sharp 9-3 victory on Wednesday. Considering the Huskies have won six matches by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

The team relied heavily on Luke Steinmeyer, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played. Dresden Wood also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Marsing is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games. As for New Plymouth, they dropped their record down to 8-6 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Marsing will take on Melba at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The Huskies' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Mustangs have averaged an impressive 6.6 runs per game this season. As for New Plymouth, they will face off against Nampa Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The Trojans' pitching crew has only allowed 2.9 runs per game this season, so the Pilgrims' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
