Volleyball Recap: Portsmouth Starts Season with Loss on the Road

Portsmouth kicked off their season on the road on Saturday and hit a couple of potholes. They fell 2-0 to the Clay Panthers. Sadly, the defeat continues a streak the team started last season, making it ten in a row.

The 2-0 score doesn't really reflect how close the match was: every set was decided by exactly two points. The match finished with set scores of 27-25, 25-23.

Clay's win was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 2-0.

Looking ahead, Portsmouth is taking a road trip to challenge South Point at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The game will give the Trojans their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Clay, they will venture away from home to square off against Ripley-Union-Lewis-Huntington at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
