Softball Recap: Poquoson Wins Going Away Against York

Poquoson barely beat York the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Islanders blew past the Falcons 12-1 on Wednesday. Considering the Islanders have won six matchups by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Poquoson got a great performance from Natalie Klochak as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over five innings pitched.

On the hitting side, Alyssa Laney was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Tinley Goodson, who went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases and three runs.

Poquoson was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. The last time their batting average was this high was back in May of 2024.

The win made it two in a row for Poquoson and bumps their season record up to 12-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 2 run in those games. As for York, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-7.

Coincidentally, Poquoson and York will both be playing Lafayette the next time they take the field. The Falcons will head out to face the Rams at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, while the Islanders will host them at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
