Softball Recap: Mayfield Cubs vs. Polytechnic Panthers
Mayfield put the finishing touches on their eighth blowout victory of the season on Tuesday. They never let the Polytechnic Panthers onto the board and left with a 9-0 win. The victory was familiar territory for Mayfield who now have five in a row.
Not much got past Mackenzie Taylor, who gave up just three hits to keep Polytechnic off the board. Taylor has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't pitched less than seven innings in six consecutive pitching appearances.
On the hitting side, Mayfield got a massive performance out of Madilyn Domingo, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Kennedy Taylor, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.
On Polytechnic's side, they saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brynn Connolly, who went 1-for-3 with a stolen base.
Mayfield has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 17-6 record this season. As for Polytechnic, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-9.
