Lyman is 9-1 against Master's Academy since April of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Greyhounds will head out on the road to square off against the Eagles at 6:00 p.m. Lyman is coming into the game on a five-game losing streak.
Lyman is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 11 runs on Wednesday, they were much more limited against Winter Springs on Monday. They came up short against the Bears, falling 14-2.
Lyman saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jade Perez, who scored a run while going 1-for-3. Perez also put up a double, which was her first of the season.
Meanwhile, after low-scoring totals in their previous four contests, Master's Academy brought some dynamite into their most recent match. They blew past Altamonte Christian 16-0 on Tuesday. Considering Master's Academy has won seven contests by more than nine runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Reagan Peri made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with three RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Isa Moya and Lauren McMeel did most of the damage at the plate: Moya scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-2, while McMeel scored three runs while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances. Emily Martin was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI and one double.
Master's Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .750. The last time their OBP was this high was back in February.
Lyman's loss dropped their record down to 4-13. As for Master's Academy, the win snapped their losing streak at four games and leaves them with a 9-9 record.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Lyman has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.4 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Master's Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Lyman came out on top in a nail-biter against Master's Academy in their previous matchup back in March, sneaking past 6-5. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Greyhounds since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
