Preview: Needles Mustangs vs. White Pine Bobcats
Needles is 10-0 against White Pine since January of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Needles Mustangs will head out on the road to face off against the White Pine Bobcats at 6:30 p.m. Needles has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 1,254 points over their last 18 matches.
Needles put the finishing touches on their 14th blowout victory of the season on Tuesday. They took their matchup on the road with ease, bagging a 90-21 victory over Adelson. Needles' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Needles' victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Darrell Russell, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 12 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Russell has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Luca Walema, who dropped a triple-double on ten points, 18 rebounds, and ten assists.
White Pine posted their biggest win since January 2nd on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Pahranagat Valley with a sharp 52-30 victory. The win was nothing new for White Pine as they're now sitting on three straight.
Needles pushed their record up to 21-0 with that win, which was their 15th straight on the road. As for White Pine, their win bumped their record up to 8-14.
Everything came up roses for Needles against White Pine when the teams last played back in December of 2023 as the squad secured a 73-37 win. With Needles ahead 42-18 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
