Basketball Recap: Roosevelt Skates Past Cardozo with Ease

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Roosevelt). They blew past the Cardozo Clerks 64-6 on Wednesday. The Roughriders have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matches by 24 points or more this season.

Roosevelt's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jalyn Russ led the charge by putting up 14 points. That's the most points Russ has posted since back in December of 2023. Kelis Williams was another key player, posting 14 points.

Roosevelt's win was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-1. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.6 points per game. As for Cardozo, they are on a 12-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.

Roosevelt wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 47-30 victory against KIPP DC Legacy College Prep on the 27th. Cardozo has also already played their next contest, a 64-16 loss against Banneker on the 20th.
