Baseball Game Preview: Fletcher Senators vs. Fleming Island Golden Eagles

The Fletcher Senators are taking a road trip to take on the Fleming Island Golden Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Fletcher's pitching crew has only allowed 4.1 runs per game this season, so Fleming Island's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Fletcher took a loss when they played away from home last Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They came out on top against First Coast by a score of 6-1.

Kyle Johnson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on two hits and racked up six Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Fletcher saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nick Oliviera, who scored a run while going 2-for-4. Gabe Hernandez also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen bases of the season.

Meanwhile, Fleming Island was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They took a 4-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of Flagler Palm Coast.

Fletcher is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-7-1 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for Fleming Island, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-17.
