Box Elder (Brigham City, Utah) had a comfortable lead entering the fourth quarter, but used 19 fourth quarter points to seal the 39-17 victory over
Roy (Utah).
The Royals pulled ahead on a touchdown pass by
Tyler Skidmore to
Ken Linehan, and subsequently went into halftime leading 17-13. The Bees scored the winning points with a passing touchdown that came in the third quarter.
The loss snapped Roy's 4-game winning streak.
RHS's Skidmore was the standout player for his team. The sophomore quarterback threw one touchdown.
Box Elder also won the meeting between the two teams last season, 17-0.
The defeat comes as a step back for Roy, which notched a 9-3 victory over Murray in its previous outing. The victory was a step in the right direction for BE, which was coming off a 31-14 defeat at the hands of Syracuse in its previous game.
Box Elder (4-1) will play a 4A Region 5 game against Sky View next week, while Roy (4-1) will take on Logan also in a 4A Region 5 game.
