Basketball Game Preview: Delhi Bears vs. Union Parish Farmers

The Delhi Bears will challenge the Union Parish Farmers at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Delhi is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.6 points per game this season.

Delhi took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They breezed by General Trass to the tune of 80-32. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 58-25.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Delhi to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jatavis Hester, who went 13 of 16 on his way to 31 points. Those 31 points gave Hester a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jay Wright, who went 8 for 12 en route to 20 points along with seven steals and six assists.

Meanwhile, Union Parish was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Monday as they fell 39-33 to Arcadia. While losing is never fun, the Farmers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 218th, while the Hornets are ranked 76th).

Delhi is on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 14 matches, which provided a massive bump to their 20-15 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.4 points per game. As for Union Parish, their loss dropped their record down to 13-16.
