Union Pines (N.C.) hits state-record 11 home runs

Justin Allred, Nic Collins hit three apiece as two North Carolina records are broken.

Union Pines (Cameron, N.C.) blasted a state-record 11 home runs during a 16-9 baseball victory over East Montgomery (Bisco, N.C.). The losers also homered twice, helping to set a state-record with 13 combined circuit clouts.

Justin Allredand Nicholas Collins led Union Pines with three home runs apiece as the winners raised their record to 13-4. Seth Breasseale and Gabe Gonzalez each hammered a pair.

Union Pines coach Chad Hill told Tim Stevens of the Raleigh News & Observer, "It wasn't like we were throwing it up there underhanded or anything. It just seemed that everything we hit, we hit with the barrel of the bat."
