As for La Sierra, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-14-2 record this season. The result was nothing new for La Sierra, who have now won eight contests by seven runs or more so far this season.
On La Sierra's side, Matthew Ortiz made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts Ortiz has posted since back in May of 2025. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI and two doubles.
In other batting news, Angel Carreon and Gabriel Gonzalez did most of the damage at the plate: Carreon went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base, while Gonzalez went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. Carreon is becoming a predictor of La Sierra's success: when he posts at least three hits the team is 2-0-1 (and 8-14-1 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Joshua Leon, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
