Baseball Recap: LaVergne Comes Up Short

LaVergne lost against Cookeville back in May of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Wolverines came up short against the Cavaliers, falling 18-3. The Wolverines have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

LaVergne saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jay Jerome, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

LaVergne's loss dropped their record down to 9-6. As for Cookeville, their win was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-4.

While LaVergne had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
