Basketball Recap: Harlem Lyons' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Potomac Senior over Gainesville

Potomac Senior fought the good fight in their overtime game against Gainesville on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Gainesville Cardinals by a score of 58-56. The Panthers have been going strong on the season, but this is now their second loss in a row.

Potomac Senior's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Harlem Lyons, who went 6-for-14 on his way to 14 points. Another player making a difference was Yusef Navins, who went 5-for-10 to rack up 13 points.

Even though they lost, Potomac Senior smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in three consecutive contests.

Potomac Senior's loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 12-1 and their overall record down to 18-6. As for Gainesville, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 12 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-6 record this season.

As of now, neither Potomac Senior nor Gainesville have any future games scheduled.
