Basketball Game Preview: Sheldon Huskies vs. Monterey Trail Mustangs

Sheldon is on a 12-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Monterey Trail is on a five-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Sheldon Huskies will welcome the Monterey Trail Mustangs at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

On Monday, Sheldon strolled past Elk Grove with points to spare, taking the game 61-42.

Meanwhile, Monterey Trail posted their biggest victory since December 4, 2024 on Monday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Pleasant Grove 77-48. Given the Mustangs' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 32nd, while the Eagles are ranked 548th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Monterey Trail is also on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 14 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 18-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.4 points per game. As for Sheldon, their win bumped their record up to 12-9.
