Basketball Recap: Lincolnton Starts Season with Win at Home

Lincolnton took care of business in their home opener on Friday. They took down the Corvian Community Cardinals 71-57.

Josiah Guyton went supernova, dropping a double-double with 24 points and ten boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Zymarion Jackson, who posted 13 points and six rebounds.

Lincolnton smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 24 consecutive games dating back to last season.

Corvian Community lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Barrington Cook, who had 11 points along with six boards and five assists. Zion Edwards was another key player, putting up 11 points.

Looking ahead, Lincolnton will take on Hough at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Corvian Community, they will challenge Ambassador Christian School at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
