North Caddo is headed into Thursday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Wednesday. They lost 14-2 to Loyola College Prep.
North Caddo saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Paisley Blaine, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-1. That stolen base marked the first that Blaine snagged this season.
Meanwhile, while Northwood put up plenty of runs on Tuesday, the same can't be said for North Webster. The Falcons were the clear victors by a 15-0 margin over the Knights. The Falcons haven't had any issues with the Knights recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
Devan Ashby made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 13 over seven innings pitched. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.4 strikeouts per game. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 3-for-6. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, Northwood let Mackenzie Jagers and Stephanie Ramirez run wild. Jagers scored four runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-5, while Ramirez went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two doubles, and one run. Jagers continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Avery Holcomb was another key player, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4.
Northwood kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 13 hits in three consecutive games.
North Caddo's loss dropped their record down to 4-10. As for Northwood, their record now sits at 8-18.
Thursday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. North Caddo has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .468. However, it's not like Northwood struggles in that department as they've averaged .436. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
North Caddo suffered a grim 16-1 defeat to Northwood in their previous meeting back in March of 2021. Can the Titans avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
