Basketball Preview: Murray Spartans vs. Tooele Buffaloes
The Murray Spartans will be playing in front of their home fans against the Tooele Buffaloes at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.
After a string of five wins, Murray's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They took a 58-43 bruising from Cottonwood.
Treyce Wilson put forth a good effort for the losing side as he scored 14 points. Kaiden Nelson was another key contributor, scoring six points along with five rebounds.
Meanwhile, Tooele's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight defeat. They had to suffer through a rough 81-52 loss at the hands of Cottonwood. Tooele has not had much luck with the Colts recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
Murray's defeat ended a seven-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 12-6. As for Tooele, they dropped their record down to 4-15 with that defeat, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season.
Everything went Murray's way against the Buffaloes in their previous meeting back in January as the Spartans made off with a 69-48 victory. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Tooele's Ethan B rogers, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and ten rebounds. Now that he's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Murray still be able to contain B rogers? There's only one way to find out.
