Baseball Recap: Smoky Hill Takes a Loss

Smoky Hill suffered their biggest loss since May 13, 2024 on Friday. They came up short against the Montezuma-Cortez Panthers, falling 17-5. The Buffaloes have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Anwyl Gutierrez-Trujillo was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base. Jovani Galvan also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Smoky Hill's defeat dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Montezuma-Cortez, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 7-1.

Smoky Hill didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 14-4 victory against Strasburg on the 5th. As for Montezuma-Cortez, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, an 18-17 loss against Glenwood Springs on the 4th.
