Basketball Game Preview: Socorro Warriors vs. Cobre Indians

Socorro has gone 9-1 against Cobre recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Socorro Warriors will welcome the Cobre Indians at 5:30 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Socorro is coming into the contest on the come-up as their season has now been buoyed by two straight wins. They managed a 33-27 victory over Hatch Valley on Tuesday.

Socorro's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jazmine Alvarado led the charge by putting up 15 points in addition to seven steals and six rebounds. Alvarado's evening made it five games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Ariana Crespin, who posted seven points along with 14 boards and seven steals.

Meanwhile, Cobre can bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Tuesday. They came out on top against Hot Springs by a score of 63-53.

Socorro's win ended a seven-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-17. As for Cobre, their victory bumped their record up to 9-11.

Socorro was able to grind out a solid win over Cobre in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, winning 48-36. Will Socorro repeat their success, or does Cobre have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
