Basketball Game Preview: Paw Paw Pirates vs. Bishop Walsh Spartans

The Paw Paw Pirates will venture away from home to take on the Bishop Walsh Spartans at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with four consecutive losses for Paw Paw and five for Bishop Walsh.

Paw Paw saw some tournament action on Saturday. They were dealt a 97-64 loss at the hands of Turkeyfoot Valley Area.

Despite the defeat, Paw Paw got top-tier performance from Taylor Carder, who posted 28 points and eight rebounds. That's the most rebounds Carder has posted since back in January. Donavan Tanouye was another key player, putting up 17 points along with seven rebounds and three steals.

Even though they lost, Paw Paw smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in five consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Bishop Walsh was beaten by Allegany 70-24 last Friday.

Paw Paw's loss dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Bishop Walsh, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-7.

Paw Paw came up short against Bishop Walsh when the teams last played back in February of 2018, falling 69-61. Can Paw Paw avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
