Softball Preview: Superior Spartans vs. Grand Rapids Thunderhawks
Superior has been on the road for two straight, but on Friday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Grand Rapids Thunderhawks at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Superior is hoping to deliver their fans another blowout on Friday, just like they did against Denfeld (and have done all season long). Superior blew past Denfeld 13-2.
Ari Robillard was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Robillard was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances.
In other batting news, Paige Johnson was incredible, going 4-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and a triple. She is on a roll when it comes to RBI, as she's now brought in three or more in the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Keira Corbett, who scored three runs while going 3-for-3.
Meanwhile, Grand Rapids had just enough and edged Duluth East out 2-1 last Wednesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Grand Rapids.
Superior pushed their record up to 7-4-1 with that victory, which was their third straight on the road. As for Grand Rapids, their win bumped their record up to 4-5.
