Softball Recap: Oakridge Takes a Loss

Oakridge had lost three straight at home, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 4-5 to make it four. They lost 18-8 to the Waldport Irish. The Warriors were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Irish earlier this season, when they won 17-13.

Waldport's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-9. They not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since May 1, 2024 (when they won 15-4).

For Waldport's part, Azura Prince was a standout: she went 4-for-5 with six RBI, two stolen bases, and three runs. Prince also hit a double, marking her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Savannah Martin, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with four runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Oakridge will head out to square off against North Douglas at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. North Douglas will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Oakridge surely won't give up without a fight. As for Waldport, they will face off against Gold Beach at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
