Softball Game Preview: Cannon Cougars vs. South Caldwell Spartans

The Cannon Cougars will face off against the South Caldwell Spartans at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (Cannon 3.8, South Caldwell 1.4) so any runs scored will be well earned.

On Monday, Cannon didn't have quite enough to beat South Rowan and fell 4-3.

Addie Hartz spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on five hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Cannon saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Clark Hudson, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, South Caldwell put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They put the hurt on A.C. Reynolds with a sharp 12-1 victory. The Spartans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four games by ten runs or more this season.

South Caldwell's win was their 18th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-0. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.1 runs over those games. As for Cannon, their loss dropped their record down to 3-2.
