Softball Recap: Anderson County Mavericks vs. William Blount Governors

After flying high against Northview Academy last Friday, Anderson County came back down to earth. The Anderson County Mavericks fell just short of the William Blount Governors by a score of 5-3 on Thursday. Anderson County was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as William Blount apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in March of 2022.

Addison Grooms spent all seven innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and two unearned) runs on eight hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't pitched less than five innings every time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, Marlea Finstad was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with a home run and two RBI.
