The Credo Gryphon will challenge the Saint Mary's Panthers at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Credo will aim to continue their five-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last.
Credo is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Valley Christian a 24-0 shutout. The Gryphon's hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Zach McKenna was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Credo is 6-2 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 8-9 otherwise. McKenna was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in five of his six plate appearances with one home run, six RBI, and four runs. What's more, he posted three hits, the most he's had since back in April.

In other batting news, Thadeus Cole was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. Credo is 10-2 when Cole posts two or more runs, but 4-9 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Felix Rebolledo, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base.
Credo always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .681. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Saint Mary's, who bounced back after a loss on the road two weeks ago. They put the hurt on Victory Christian Academy with a sharp 13-0 victory on Wednesday. That looming 13-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Panthers yet this season.
Saint Mary's also got a great performance from Cooper Nitsan as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out ten over five innings pitched. Nitsan has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Damien Nolan was incredible, going 2-for-4 with two triples, three RBI, and two runs. Lucas Nitsan was another key player, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Credo pushed their record up to 14-11 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for Saint Mary's, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-17 record this season.
