Fernley faced Galena in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Vaqueros managed a 41-37 victory over the Grizzlies. The Vaqueros haven't had any issues with the Grizzlies recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Despite the defeat, Galena saw an underclassman step up: freshman Sandra Quevedo posted ten points in addition to seven rebounds and five blocks. Savvi Morrow was another key player, putting up six points and three blocks.
