Baseball Recap: Churchill County's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Wednesday

After a string of nine wins, Churchill County's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They fell 9-4 to the Spanish Springs Cougars. The Greenwave were not able to make up for their defeat to the Cougars from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.

Churchill County got a good showing from Mason Storm, who tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Storm has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Nathaniel Zackery made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while going 2-for-2.

Churchill County's loss dropped their record down to 12-5-1. As for Spanish Springs, their win bumped their record up to 11-5.

Coincidentally, Churchill County and Spanish Springs will both be playing Elko the next time they take the field. The Cougars will host the Indians at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, while the Greenwave will head out to face them at 3:00 p.m. on the 11th.
