Basketball Recap: Hilton Head Island Takes a Loss

Hilton Head Island was the 65-55 winner over Bluffton when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. The Hilton Head Island Seahawks took a 54-42 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bluffton Bobcats on Friday. The matchup marked the Seahawks' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Despite the loss, Hilton Head Island still got an impressive performance from Kyrice Bowman, who went 7 of 12 to rack up 16 points. What's more, Bowman also posted a 58% field goal percentage, which is the highest he's posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Tajae Wright, who posted 12 points.

Harrison Skinner was his usual excellent self, going 6 for 14 on his way to 21 points and four steals for Bluffton. The game was Skinner's fourth in a row with at least 17 points. Jamari Manning was another key player, putting up 13 points.

Hilton Head Island's loss dropped their record down to 6-11. As for Bluffton, their victory was their tenth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-2.

Hilton Head Island didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 57-48 defeat against May River on the 4th. As for Bluffton, they have also already played their next contest, a 47-33 win against Colleton County on the 4th.
