Preview: Lincoln Trojans vs. Rickards Raiders
The Lincoln Trojans will head out on the road to face off against the Rickards Raiders at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Rickards took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Lincoln, who comes in off a win.
You're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter, and that's exactly how it played out for Lincoln on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that they blew Leon out of the water with a 42-0 final score. Given Lincoln's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 29th, while Leon is ranked 132nd), the result wasn't exactly an upset.
Lincoln's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Christian Sims, who rushed for 60 yards and a touchdown. Lincoln also got a significant boost from Christian "Deuce" Lawrence, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 80 yards.
Lincoln's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB seven times. Leading the way was Chancy Jordan and his two sacks.
Meanwhile, Rickards came up short against Wakulla two Fridays ago and fell 35-22. That means Rickards has now suffered back-to-back defeats.
A'Marion Wilson put forth a good effort for the losing side as he threw for 94 yards and two touchdowns.
Lincoln has been no stranger to the win column this season, as they've started out with wins in five of their first six contests, giving them a 5-1 record. Rickards has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-4 record this season.
Lincoln came up short against Rickards in their previous meeting back in October of 2022, falling 19-7. Can Lincoln avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
