Volleyball Recap: Musselman Takes a Loss

If Musselman was riding high fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Jefferson on Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Applemen took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Hoggard Vikings on Friday.

While Musselman had to settle for second, they sure made a game of it, scoring at least 18 points in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-18, 25-19.

Brielle Wolf paced Musselman's offense, picking up five kills. Wolf got some help from Maddie Shelton and her six assists. Shelton was also solid from the service line: she led the team with three aces.

Musselman's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Hoggard, their victory was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 2-1.

Musselman wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 2-0 win against Ashley Ridge on the 23rd. As for Hoggard, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 2-1 loss against North Myrtle Beach on the 23rd.
