Preview: Penney Hornets vs. Mid-Buchanan Dragons
Penney is 2-8 against Mid-Buchanan since February of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Penney Hornets will head out on the road to face off against the Mid-Buchanan Dragons at 6:00 p.m. Penney is coming into the contest on a five-game losing streak.
Last Tuesday, Penney came up short against Wellington-Napoleon and fell 36-23. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Penney in their matchups with Wellington-Napoleon: they've now lost four in a row.
Meanwhile, Mid-Buchanan unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Saturday. They took a serious blow against Lathrop, falling 53-25. While losing is never fun, Mid-Buchanan can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 78th, while Lathrop is ranked 16th).
Penney bumped their record down to 1-6 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 22.3 points per game. As for Mid-Buchanan, their loss dropped their record down to 4-2.
Penney was dealt a bruising 67-23 loss at the hands of Mid-Buchanan in their previous meeting back in February. Can Penney avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
