Softball Recap: Milton Eagles vs. River Ridge Knights

Milton and River Ridge squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Milton had to settle for second. They fell just short of the River Ridge Knights by a score of 7-6. The Eagles were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Knights apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in August.

Avery Miller spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and six unearned) runs on nine hits.

On the hitting side, Allison Oneacre was cooking despite her team's loss, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with a home run, three stolen bases, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Heidi Cay Selby, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

This is the second loss in a row for Milton and nudges their season record down to 19-10. As for River Ridge, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 14-12.
