Softball Recap: Mountain Empire Has No Trouble Against Victory Christian Academy

Mountain Empire won the last time they faced Victory Christian Academy and things went their way on Thursday too. The Redhawks were the clear victors by a 20-8 margin over the Knights. Considering the Redhawks have won three games by more than seven runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Rowan Smith and Valerie Machado did most of the damage at the plate: Smith went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, two triples, and three runs, while Machado went 3-for-4 with four stolen bases and four runs. Those four runs gave Machado a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Mia Quevedo, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three runs.

Mountain Empire always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .643. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Mountain Empire's win bumped their record up to 5-3. As for Victory Christian Academy, they are on a ten-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-9.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Mountain Empire beat the Knights by a score of 20-10 on Thursday.
