Basketball Game Preview: River Falls Wildcats vs. New Richmond Tigers

A feisty cat fight is on tap when the River Falls Wildcats face off against the New Richmond Tigers at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday... Given that both suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

Last Monday, River Falls lost to Colfax at home by a 51-36 margin. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Wisconsin basketball rankings (they are ranked 265th, while the Vikings are ranked 55th).

Meanwhile, New Richmond was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They were beaten by Eau Claire Memorial 77-28. The game marked the Tigers' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

River Falls' loss dropped their record down to 5-14. As for New Richmond, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-13.

River Falls took their win against New Richmond in their previous matchup back in January by a conclusive 75-50. The rematch might be a little tougher for River Falls since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
