Softball Recap: Eastern Montgomery Beats Craig County for Their Sixth Straight Win

Eastern Montgomery entered their tilt with Craig County on Tuesday with five consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with six. They were the clear victors by a 14-4 margin over the Rockets. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 21-7 on April 1st.

Rena Chandler was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with four stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Those four stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Katie Salyer also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Eastern Montgomery was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .385 or higher in six consecutive matches.

Eastern Montgomery's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-5. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Craig County, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-4 record this season.

Coincidentally, Eastern Montgomery and Craig County will both be playing Bath County the next time they take the field. The Mustangs will host the Chargers at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, while the Rockets will host them at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
